Description, patients and keywords:

A fistula is an abnormal connection between two structures inside the body. An arteriovenous fistula (AVF) can be formed surgically by connecting an artery and a vein to create an enlarged blood vessel. AVFs make needle insertion for dialysis easier and create faster blood flow. Two devices for AVF creation are the everlinQ™ endoAVF System and the Ellipsys® Vascular Access System.
